At the beginning of the school year, I decided to keep James home for kindergarten. I was not ready to send him off to school every day and interestingly enough, kindergarten is not required by law. This was a decision I regretted every time I had to get something done besides taking care of children, but on the whole it was great having James home! We had a grand time spending a whole month in Utah in the fall and were able to make many trips down to Disneyland and to cousins up north.
In March, I heard about a charter school that meets twice a week with the other three days at home. I toured the school, signed James up, was given curriculum guidelines and workbooks, and James started that week. It was the perfect answer for us. He loved going to school and making friends, but also loved the days when we were home together and relaxed.
James' last week was filled with end-of-year celebrations and a carnival in the gym at his school. Excuse the nasty indoor iphone pictures, what can I say, the camera just didn't make it into the car.

Annabelle loved going to pre-school for the month of May. The advanced child development students ran it at the high school, and the children had such a good time. Anna came home every day with glitter and paint-filled crafts and lots of interesting facts about nature, animals, the weather, and all that they had learned about!
Now we are into summer and looking forward to camping, sailing at the lake, going to the water slide park, and spending lots of time at the beach!
