As a way of saying Merry Christmas to our community, our little one-screen movie theater showed a free Christmas movie last Saturday. I read the movie marquee the whole week prior, wondering what Christmas movie they were going to show? Would it be worth going? But, it was free after all. There wasn't much to lose. Imagine my delight when I realized, while standing in line, that White Christmas was showing! Bing Crosby! My heart!
During the opening scene when they are at war, and Bing Crosby sings "I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas" to the soldiers, I teared up. It was so special to be able to see that old movie on a big screen in my theater that I've been going to since I was a little girl. Sitting there, with my two sweet children and my fantastic husband next to me, sharing popcorn between us. What a privilege it is to live in this small town where fun things like this are going on all the time! Thank you, Fair Oaks Theater, for a lovely Saturday afternoon!
