On Our Way to Logan:

We traveled to Utah for Thanksgiving to see Adam’s family. We stopped in Salt Lake for a couple days, and stayed at the most glorious hotel which had all the necessities: a full breakfast & indoor pool. And we shopped, enjoyed the lights at Temple Square, explored This Is The Place Monument in the freezing cold, and saw a musical play of our Savior at the conference center. We were thrilled that we got tickets! They said they were sold out online, but when we dared to hope & checked at the ticket office, they said they had just a few left. For us! I love Salt Lake and the beautiful, peaceful spirit that is there at Temple Square. It was truly a wonderful way to begin our Christmas Season!

We happened upon the Relief Society Building on Temple Square. I had never heard of it before, but it was beautiful inside. In the 1940's, the women of the church wanted a building for their offices & to display the women's programs. But it was post-WWII & hard for the church to afford a new building. So they asked the women to collect $5 from every Relief Society member, and for the ward's to donate half of their budget for the building. The women of the church all over the world sent in their $5, and those that couldn't send money, sent priceless gifts from war-torn Europe & Asia. It was beautiful to see these treasures on display. The names of the valiant women who donated for the building are kept in books, and I loved going through the names. I was overwhelmed with joy to find my own great-grandmother, Mae Kent's name & Adam's grandmother, Ruby Lyman!

Late at night after the beautiful play of Jesus' birth.

Oh, wow, how fun to find ancestors names in that book. I have never thought of going in the Relief Society building. Next time I am in SLC.....
