Becoming 4

James turned four on January 21. I know, I know, that was like a month ago. I just started thinking about his actual birthday and realized that I have not had a chance to write about it until now. Life is crazy sometimes, let me tell you.

For his birthday, I took James down to Boomer's (formally known as Camelot) and let him ride on the race cars. He loved it! We went to Target to check out the toys and get a soft pretzel and warm chocolate chunk cookies from the little food court thing (am I the only who does this, seriously they are so fargin' good).

James had requested I make pancakes for his birthday dinner, so I whipped up some half whole wheat/half Krusteaz mix batter and made his pancake shaped like Mickey Mouse, of course. We then went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to open up presents and have some yummy dinosaur cake.

Don't laugh at my fabulous dinosaur cake. My mom has the cake decorating tips at her house, and I was home alone with both kids trying to do this and get ready in a rush so we could leave. Also, I decided to use the homemade white frosting which had been in my fridge for about two weeks (it doesn't go bad, right?) and so I had to fluff it up in my mixer and I added some milk, which made it too thin. So yeah, that is what it looks like when you try to make a dinosaur without tips and with runny frosting. Oh well. Jamie loved it, and that's all that really matters.
ummm, i don't know why there are only 3 candles in the cake.
one must have been taken out already.

And that was that.

I am really loving four. It is a fun age. I can finally catch a glimpse of the sweet little boy I once knew before he turned 2 :). He is growing up and maturing, much calmer and more compliant.
It is very nice, indeed.

I am so grateful to have this little boy in our family. He is such a blessing and so much fun to be around. He talks constantly and asks questions about EVERYTHING, he is always thinking. Scary, I know. He is all boy-- rough and tumble and loves to wrestle, play with cars-trucks-airplanes-anything that goes, and be outside with a ball. Can there be anything better than these children? They are seriously wonderful.

The cake looks great! And as a tip in the future, you can microwave the refridgerated frosting for about 10 seconds, and it becomes soft again. :)
