Hi there. I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's day yesterday, and were able to be with those they love.
Adam and I went out on Saturday night to Gina's, a little Italian place with heaven-on-earth-melt-in-your-mouth handmade butternut squash ravioli which we both ordered and devoured. And then, we went to a dance at our church which was surprisingly very fun. There was a live band that was really good. They played super awesome oldies, including our wedding song At Last by Etta James. It is a very rare occasion to go dancing (like the last time was our wedding), so it was fun!
Valentine's morning, I took my kids to a party with some friends. The children exchanged valentine's with each other and I brought heart-shaped sugar cookies with pink frosting to share. My kids were especially spazzy all day, but I lend that to the amount of sugar intake they had from the start. We made an afternoon trip to Trader Joe's for some dinner ingredients where I ran into about 10 people I knew but unfortunately I didn't have the coherency to formulate intelligent sentences and be a normal member of society because James was pulling against me every time I pushed the cart and Anna was attempting to catapult herself onto the cement floor. They made a public display of themselves in line, resulting in almost tipping over the shopping cart containing eggs and several glass jars. It would have really happened had I not been there to grab it at the last minute. And I have no idea what I said to the people whom I met, but I''m absolutely sure it didn't make sense.
Anyhow.
We came home and made a yummy Asian glaze for our salmon fillets and sat down to a candlelight dinner complete with cranberry and feta salad and sparkling pink lemonade. After dinner, we opened valentine's and talked to the children about love: showing love and kindness to those around us, our family, and each other. Adam brought me home the GQ magazine with Ryan Gosling on the cover which pretty much made my week.
We put kids to slumber, and then Adam and I snuggled while watching Lost, which is what we've been doing pretty much for the past two weeks. We're hooked, what can I say?
Loves to all!
