One of our friends was going to the temple for the first time & asked Adam to be his escort through the temple. While they were inside, the kids & I hung out at the visitors center. We saw the beautiful Christ statue & the sister missionaries played the audio for us to listen to. One of the sister missionaries spoke in sign language and since the kids have been taking a sing language class, they were able to practice. James went through all the colors with her, it was really neat. We talked about baptism & they were thrilled to hear that James is going to be baptized soon!
I read about the history of the Los Angeles temple & it's dedication by President David O'McKay in 1956. When my mom was a very little girl, she came to the open house of the temple with her mother, father & grandparents. Her grandparents were later sealed in the temple, only a few short years before they both died. The temple, eternal families, & President David O'McKay have always held a very special place in my mom's heart. And I can see why.
We drove home on the Pacific Coast Highway at dusk. Many of the houses along the beach still had their Christmas lights up. They were absolutely beautiful!
