Our scout troop had a Court of Honor & Jamie received his Tenderfoot & 2nd Class, along with merit badges from pow-wow & camp! I can't tell you how much I love the scouting program, and am grateful for the opportunity he has to learn these important skills & values.
For some reason, I am constantly being told by one person or another how Scouts is a waste of time or is lame or something we shouldn't be taking the time for. They say there are so many other important things we could be doing, like being more involved in sports.
But Scouts was a huge aspect of my growing up & is a part of who I am. It goes hand-in-hand with the Gospel in the character-building experiences & values that you learn & practice. I earned my Gold Award in Girl Scouts, along with my Young Women's Medallion Award, and I can still remember the sense of achievement & happiness both of those awards gave me as a youth.

Jamie's cousin, Jordan, just received his Eagle in August & I'm so happy that Jamie has him for an example & someone to look up to. I know what dedication & perseverance it takes to achieve Eagle.
Scouting is a family tradition, starting with my grandpa who received his Eagle in the 1920's in Michigan, all the way to Jordan receiving his in 2016. Such a sweet boy & we all couldn't be prouder of him!
